Trefelin BGC are delighted to welcome 2 new and 4 returning players to Andrew Mumfords first team squad ahead of the 2022/23 JD Cymru South league campaign. Mason Jones Thomas joins the club permanently following a successful loan spell from Haverfordwest County AFC at the end of last season, Mark Jones and Ross Jones both join from Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC, Steven Berry returns the club following a brief spell at Pontardawe Town FC, Joseph Jones rejoins the squad subject to international clearance, while Trefelin product Keenan Bailey returns following time at Baglan Red Dragons last season.
Manager Andrew Mumford gave us his thoughts on the new signings:
“I have inherited a very strong squad here at Trefelin and todays signings add more quality in key positions. Mason had a fantastic loan spell here last year, scoring a number of vital goals at the business end of the season so it’s great to secure his permanent deal. Steven has tasted success at Trefelin previously and knows the club inside out so it’s exciting to see him join up with the squad again, while Mark has scored goals at every club he has been involved in and will love the football we play here at Trefelin. Added to this is Ross Jones and with the return of JJ and Keenan we feel we are in a good place squad wise for the tough season ahead.
With a short turn around this summer the management team decided that the squad only required a few additions, especially considering the quality we have at Youth level within the club and we cant wait to get started.”
I am sure every one who follows the club will echo Mumfs words and welcome Mason, Steven, Mark, Ross, Keenan and JJ to the club for what promises to be an exciting season ahead. Thanks to Haverfordwest, Briton Ferry and Pontardawe and Baglan Red Dragon for making the transfers a smooth process we wish them the best of luck for next season.
